RCCS Goes Red for Women During Heart Health Month

February 9, 2026

February is National Heart Health Month and February 6 was the American Heart Association Wear Red Day to raise awareness about heart disease in women. Richland County Children Services (RCCS) staff wore red to show support for everyone currently dealing with heart problems and to remember loved ones who were taken by heart disease and heart-health related issues. The goal of this month is to remind individuals to take their heart health seriously. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women. Nearly 45 percent of women over age 20 are living with some form of cardiovascular disease. Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year.
