SHELBY, OH - Buckeye Superstore in Shelby, in conjunction with other local companies, has launched a toy drive. The toy drive runs through Dec. 11, and toys can be donated at various locations throughout the county. They will then be distributed by Richland County Children Services.
Toys can be dropped off at Buckeye Superstore (278 Mansfield Ave. in Shelby), JPB Marketing (42 N. Main St. Suite B in Mansfield), Apple Hill Orchard (1175 Lexington Ontario Rd. in Mansfield), Premiere Tanning (35 Mansfield Ave. in Shelby), Zac's Auto Sales (918 Springmill St. in Mansfield) and House of Pieces (2031 Park Ave. W. in Mansfield). Toys will then be delivered to Richland County Children Services, where they will be distributed to kids in Richland County.
"Buckeye [Superstore] is just trying to reach out to the community," said salesman John Crosswhite of Buckeye Superstore. "The community has been real good to us, so we're just trying to give something back."
Buckeye Superstore also partnered with Richland Correctional Institution to bring in more toys.
"This year, right around Christmas, right before Christmas, right before Thanksgiving, we started the planning process for collecting the toys at various agencies for the youth of our community," said Deputy Warden of special services for Richland Correctional Institution Keisha Allen. "It has really spiraled into something great. Our staff have been really good about giving, and the community has been really good about giving. We had toy boxes at the Dollar Tree on Ashland Road, at the Dollar General, at NECIC, and at Children Services, so it's really been an amazing event."
