Friendly House Fountain Spruces Up North End

MANSFIELD'S NORTH END - If you're driving up Springmill Street to get a coney and rootbeer from Dairyland, you might do a double take at the corner of North Mulberry.

An ornate garden with a prominent water feature and stream is starting to take shape at the Friendly House. This is part of a seven year beautification/construction project that includes additional parking for events and parent/caregiver drop-offs.

Tony Vinson does a lot of walking in the neighborhood and said he's happy with the investment in his community, "It's beautiful, this is beautiful whoever did this."

Terry Conard, director of the Friendly House said no tax dollars and nothing from their budget subsidized the project, "This is not a city project, it's not a United Way project, everything was paid for by a number of private contributors."

Conard says the fountain is attracting a lot of attention and there are plans for additional trees, planted grass, and park benches.
