MANSFIELD -- As a way to celebrate Girl Scout Week, troops from all over Richland County came together Tuesday evening for the Fourth Annual All-County Service Project.

This service project is to benefit children and adults in need in Richland county. To prepare, troops have been making large and small drawstring bags, tie blankets, teddy bear washcloths, and collecting personal hygiene items over the last few months.

Nearly 50 Girl Scout members, volunteer leaders, and staff members met at the Friendly House to fill bags to donate to the Harmony House and Richland County Children's Services received in the previous year were also able to benefit the Third Street Family Services and Akron Children's Hospital.

As the evening came to a close, the girls counted out loud together as all the filled bags were packed. A total of 74 bags were assembled.

Girl Scouts are celebrating their 108th birthday this week and while many events are going on to celebrate, having the opportunity to work with the girls and being able to give back to our community makes this Girl Scouts' favorite part of the week.
