RCCS participating in homeless drive project

January 31, 2020

Richland County Children Services is lending a helping hand to help keep the area homeless warm. RCCS is part of the iHeartRadio For The Homeless project.

Chris Kelly, host of The Morning Breeze on 107.7 FM and senior Vice President of programming for iHeart Radio in Mansfield and Ashland came up with the idea for the project after he read an article about a group of elementary students in Alaska who donated socks to the homeless.

There are 10 locations in Richland and Ashland counties accepting donations of new socks, hats, gloves and fleece blankets. New and gently used coats are also being accepted. Donations will be collected now through February 14 at the following drop off locations:

  • Bill Harris Chevrolet, 2245 Claremont Ave., Ashland
  • Mansfield Area YMCA, 750 Scholl Rd., Mansfield
  • Richland Bank, 797 Ashland Rd., Mansfield
  • Richland Bank, 325 Lex-Springmill Rd., Ontario
  • Richland County Children Services, 731 Scholl Rd., Mansfield
  • Staples, 542 Lex-Springmill Rd., Ontario
  • Area Agency on Aging, 2131 Park Ave. West., Ontario
  • La Luna, 32 N. Walnut St., Downtown Mansfield
  • Mansfield Restaurant (Westside), 1090 Park Ave. West
  • Mansfield Restaurant (Southside), 948 S. Main St.

The iHeartRadio For The Homeless project is working with Love on a Mission, Richland County Domestic Violence Shelter, Harmony House and Reaching Out. Those organizations will receive a share of the items.
