Mansfield St. Peter’s student wins agency billboard contest

Mansfield, OH- Quintin Roberts, a third-grade student at St Peter's Elementary & Montessori School, won this year's Richland County Children Services 6th Annual Billboard and Calendar contest. Click here for more photos from the celebration.

The contest is open to third grade students in Richland County and is sponsored by Richland County Children Services as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. The theme of this year's contest was "When I Grow Up I Want to Be…" RCCS employees judged 217 entries from nine schools in Richland County who were invited to participate in the contest.

RCCS surprised Quintin with a certificate presented by City of Mansfield Safety Service Director Lori Cope and members of the Mansfield Police Department and a pizza party for his classmates on Monday, May 6th at the school. Quintin’s drawing is featured on a billboard on Mulberry Street near the school as well as in the agency's 2019-2020 calendar.

This year the agency decided to have the second and third place winners also appear on a billboard. The second-place winner was Remington Hedrick from St. Peter’s Elementary and the third-place winner was Owen Drexel from Mansfield Christian. Remington received a $50 gift card and a plaque and Owen received a $25 gift card and a plaque.

Quintin, Remington and Owen’s drawings will appear in the agency's 2019-2020 calendar along with the following students earning the next highest vote totals: Beckett Slaughter, Stingel Elementary; Kaelin Scott, Stingel Elementary; Jewells Sewell, Sherman Elementary; Dajsia Narvaez, Richland School of Academic Arts; Shiloh Walter, Mansfield Spanish Immersion; Izaya Reynolds, Plymouth Shiloh Elementary School; Owen Hendershott, Mifflin Elementary; Hayden Mowry, Bellville Elementary and Caleb W. Cole, St. Peter’s Elementary. Each of the students will receive a certificate.

The 2019-2020 calendar will be distributed at the RCCS booth during the annual Richland County Fair and other community events.
