Is Said and Party perform at Black History Month Celebration

The Mansfield/Richland County Public Library hosted its annual Black History Month celebration on Saturday, Feb. 2. Click here for Black History Month Celebration gallery.

The free event featured live entertainment, a pound cake/dressing contest, The Marketplace presenting items for sale by local artisans, informational tables from area agencies, crafts for kids, and a Soul Food Café presented by Ms. Lil’s Fish Catering.

The highlight of the event was the mainstage entertainment that included the Jesus Jewels Praise Dance Troupe from Shiloh Baptist Church, Is Said and Advance Party presenting African dance, drumming, poetry and storytelling, rapper Allison “Allicat” Lindsay, New Beginning Full Gospel Baptist Church Male Chorus and Mansfield’s own R&B funk band Alter Ego.

The Black History Month Celebration has been an annual event since 1992.
