More than 70 people attended the event enjoying great food, games and fellowship. The NECIC Elder Program is a fun and educational event held the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Meetings are held from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the United Steelworkers Local 169 at 376 W. Longview Ave.

The luncheons are open to seniors ages 60 and older and the cost is $3 per person. The potluck menu included fried chicken, hamburgers, potato salad and an assortment of desserts. The money from the event goes towards activities for the seniors.

RCCS Director of Community Outreach and Programming, Tim Harless and Community Engagement Specialist Brigitte Coles, gave away agency t-shirts and books for prizes for the games on behalf of the agency.

"This is a wonderful program for our seniors. They have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun activities every month like going to museums and plays," NECIC Community Organizer Kay Smith said.

"We also provide them with helpful information about senior service programs including home delivered meals, health and safety, emergency services, home energy assistance, and transportation. We talk to them about becoming foster parents because some of our seniors were foster parents at one time and some are Kinship Caregivers receiving support from the Richland County Children Services Kinship Navigator program," Smith said.
