Certificates and prizes presented to calendar contest winners

Nathan Stump, principal Mifflin Elementary School, Blake Frederick, earned next highest votes to appear in the calendar, Ellie Powell, second-place winner, drawing will appear on billboard and Tim Harless, Director of Community Outreach and Programming.

Prizes and certificates were presented to the second-place and third-place winners of the Richland County Children Services 5th Annual Billboard and Calendar contest.  

The contest is open to third grade students in Richland County and is sponsored by Richland County Children Services as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.  The theme of this year's contest was " A Safe, Supportive, Loving Family - What Does It Look Like to You?" 

Tim Harless, Director of Community Outreach and Programming, visited Mifflin Elementary School to present a $50 gift card and certificate to second-place winner Ellie Powell, a $25 gift card and certificate to Tucker Keetle and a Certificate of Excellence to Blake Frederick, who had the next highest votes for this drawing to appear in the calendar. Powell and Keetle will also receive a plaque featuring their drawings.  

"This year the agency decided to have the second and third place winners also appear on a billboard for Foster Care and Kinship Care, " said Harless.

Brigitte Coles, Community Engagement Specialist, visited the following schools to present certificates of excellence to the students earning the next highest vote totals to appear in the agency's 2018-2019 calendar:  Michelle Hope, Mansfield Christian; Rowynn McDonald, Mansfield Christian; Lena Kahl, St. Mary's of the Snows; and Lyndsey Schonauer, Woodland Elementary School.  

The 2018-2019 calendar will be distributed at the RCCS booth during the annual Richland County Fair.

Previous winners have come from Lexington, Mansfield Christian and Shelby schools.
