City of Ontario proclaims Child Abuse Prevention Month

April 6, 2017

Ontario Mayor Randy Hutchinson on Wednesday evening issued a proclamation designating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the city.

Hutchinson read the proclamation during the Ontario City Council meeting. Tim Harless, the community outreach/programming director for Richland County Children Services, accepted the proclamation, along with Carl Hunnell, the agency's public information supervisor.

In his proclamation, Hutchinson said "all citizens should become more aware of the negative effects of child abuse and its prevention within the community, and become involved in supporting parents to raise children in a safe, nurturing environment."

He also called on all city residents, agencies and organizations "to do their part to protect children and assist families in need."
