5K, Pasta dinner coming up this weekend
October 17, 2011It's a big weekend coming up for Richland County Children Services with a pasta dinner on Friday night and a 5K run/walk on Saturday morning. Both events are open to the public with proceeds benefitting the agency's staff enrichment fund.
The all-you-can-eat pasta dinner at the Lexington Senior Civic Center is a great way to warm up for the Mansfield Senior-Lexington football game. The dinner is from 4 to 6:30 p.m. and the annual cross-county clash kicks off at 7 p.m. at Lexington.
Adult tickets are $5 and it's $4 for children. The menu includes pasta, bread, salad and drink. The Lexington Senior Civic Center is at 67 E. Main St.
The annual 5K Run/Walk for Safe Children begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Edgewood and Crescent roads and winds through the scenic Woodland area. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Richland County Children Services at 731 Scholl Road.
The race fee is $10 for those who register in advance and $15 on the day of the race. The first 100 runners will receive a free race t-shirt.
There are seven age divisions -- 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus. Awards will be presented to the top three men and women finishers in each age group and the top three men and women overall.
