Agency joins in Black History Month Celebration
February 8, 2011
Richland County Children Services was one of many area public service agencies and/or organizations which participated Saturday in an annual Black History Month celebration at the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library.
The child protective service agency again had a table staffed by worker volunteers who distributed information about the agency's services, including details on how to become foster and adoptive parents. (Click here for photo gallery from the event.)
"This celebration brings in many area residents and we felt it was a wonderful opportunity to promote our programs, especially foster care and adoption," volunteer coordinator Brianne Kindinger said. "We had 16 potential foster parents sign up to get more information."
There was much to see and do at the annual event. There was live entertainment throughout the day, including Frank Boyd Jr.'s Gospel Blues Band, Mansfield Community Choir, and Jazzy Line Dancers.
Great food was also available, including macaroni and cheese, corn casserole, black beans and okra, jerk chicken, and corn bread pudding. There were also events for the children in the children's department.
