Start the holidays with RCCS at the parade!

November 15, 2010

Start the holiday season off right on Saturday by joining Richland County Children Services at the 2010 Mansfield Holiday Parade.

The annual event starts at 10 a.m. and will again feature the giant blue pinwheel on the Children Services float, indicating "One Pinwheel, One Child."

RCCS posts pinwheels in front of the Richland County Courthouse each April during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, each indicating an allegation of child abuse or neglect the agency investigated the year prior. In 2009, RCCS examined a record 2,748 cases and is on pace to top that mark in 2010.

Agency employees walking along with the float will distribute candy canes to children along the route.
