Richland County Children Services Practice Consideration During COVID-19
March 19, 2020
Family Visitation –Plan
As of March 18, 2020, we are continuing our parent/child visitation, however this topic will continue to be assessed daily. Please call first before your visit at (419) 774-4100.
Entering the building, clients will be asked to wash their hands before and during visitation time. Items that are brought into the visitation rooms will be asked to be cleaned, such as toys and diaper bags.
Also, workers are asked to provide the Risk Assessment Questions to clients prior to entering the visitation area. (Risk Assessment sheet attached). Click here for Risk Assessment sheet.
Children Services Visitation with Family Members
Conduct case-by-case assessment for any immediate safety and health concerns for children that would justify limiting outside exposure. Document those decisions in SACWIS. Consider such things as whether children are medically fragile, whether they have pre-existing health concerns, and the age of child.
When case-by-case decisions are made to limit visitation, interactions and contact via phone/FaceTime/other videoconference will be considered as options to continue with interactions.
Visits will be reduced to only those who are court-mandated to participate.
Supervised visits will take place in assigned visitation areas, (Agency and Ocie Hill).
Consider adjusting visits with siblings and other external family members to phone/FaceTime/other videoconference as options in order to maintain interactions and contact.
Workers will make their best attempt to clean items available during visitations, such as toys, games, and books thoroughly between visits.
Visitation schedules will be adjusted to reduce the number of visits occurring simultaneously.
Please call first before visiting the agency at (419) 774-4100.
**This plan is subject to change on a day to day basis based on additional information we receive, and we will keep you informed.
