MacBook donated to Mansfield PD to fight internet crimes

MANSFIELD, OH - The Mansfield Division of Police received a MacBook computer to be used by the Internet Crimes Against Children unit on Wednesday. Click here for video https://www.wmfd.com/news/single.asp?story=76501

Richland County Children Services donated four computers to the Police Division's Internet Crimes Against Children unit, totaling $5,445.75. Two of the computers were purchased in 2015 at a total cost of $2,085.79, one in 2016 at $999.99, and one in 2018 at $2,359.97.

The MacBook will help the ICAC Unit identify artifacts and files that could not be seen on windows based operating system. 

"Technology is always changing, and Mac is so popular now than it was years ago." Ryan Anschutz, Detective for the Mansfield Division of Police, said. "Integrating that piece into our investigations is a crucial aspect."

Wristbands with the words "Hear Something? See Something? Say Something!" will be handed out to alert the public to be proactive if they see something wrong. 

The Mansfield Division of Police's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit runs in conjunction with the F.B.I office. The unit has secured sentences both federally and locally totaling over 150 incarceration years.
