Tennis racquets were given to Children's Cupboard Outreach Center Hedges Campus, the City of Ontario Recreation Department, Mansfield Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Program Outreach Center (UMADAOP) and Shelby High School.

"The new racquets were from the event, "Rally for the Kids," the agency hosted in the past. The racquets were in storage and the agency wanted to give them to programs that work with youths," said Brigitte Coles, Community Engagement Specialist.

The agency also gave fishing poles to the City of Mansfield for the "Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs" program that is held annually at both North Lake Park and Liberty Park.

Children learn the basics of fishing from a certified instructor and hear from a Mansfield D.A.R.E. officer, who teaches them about the dangers of drug-use and discusses healthier alternatives to having fun.

Participants are not required to provide their own equipment, and volunteers are on hand to assist in baiting the hooks and catching the fish.
