Annual 24 Hour Swim-Bike-Run Steps Off At The Mansfield YMCA

MANSFIELD, OH- Richland County Children Services' annual 24-hour Swim-Bike-Run began at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20 and will continue until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.

Between 60 and 80 volunteers from the community and Richland County Children Services are participating in the event. Those participating have signed up for time slots when they will either be swimming, running, or biking at the Mansfield YMCA.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the availability of services at Richland County Children Services as well as Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Tim Harless, Director Of Community Outreach and Programming says, "It's a community awareness event and Richland County offers a variety of programs for families and children. We're appreciative that we have the ability to plug those families into the services that are available to them."

Richland County Children Services is open to take calls about child abuse, neglect, and dependency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to investigating situations of potential child abuse, Richland County Children Services also provides assistance programs such as Kinship Care which assists families in which the child is under the care of a grandparent or other relative instead of their parents.
