Village of Lexington Proclaims Child Abuse Prevention Month

Village of Lexington Mayor Eugene Parkison presents a proclamation in observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month to Brianne Kindinger, Kinship Navigator.  

 

Lexington - Village of Lexington City Council issued a proclamation Monday designating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the village.

The proclamation was read by Mayor Eugene Parkison during the Lexington Village Council meeting. Brianne Kindinger, Kinship Navigator, accepted the proclamation on behalf of the agency.

The proclamation highlighted the reports of child abuse, neglect and dependency assessed by Richland County Children Services (RCCS) in 2017.

The public child welfare agency assessed 1,670 allegations and request for services, an average of five new cases per day in 2017.

Agency caseworkers were involved with 389 open and ongoing cases involving 773 local children. RCCS is now working with 143 Kinship families to assist 248 local children.
