Mansfield, Oh -- Richland County Children Services hosted a baby shower Friday for a special teen in the temporary custody of the agency.

The baby shower was organized by Kinship 2 Caseworker, La'Shaun Reuer and Caseworker and Independent Living Worker, Dennis Rickett. Reuer said Rickett came up with idea to host the shower in the Futty Training & Learning Center at the agency.

"An email was sent out several weeks ago requesting donations for the shower and the response was wonderful. Dennis did an amazing job. He planned everything from the games to the food," Reuer said.

The Futty Training & Learning Center was decorated with balloons, a cake and a blue chocolate fountain.

The young mother received numerous items including a gift card, diapers, a stroller, infant clothing, bottles, and a car seat. Reuer said the baby shower is a reflection of the love that each and every caseworker has for the youths they work with every day.

"Richland County Children Services showed a lot of love for this young lady. This baby shower showed her a different side of the agency and the people who work here. We're here to support her and not judge her," Reuer said.

"I'm so happy our agency was able to help this young mother with the resources she needs to care for her baby. The baby shower restored her hopes of becoming a good mother to her baby," Reuer said.
