Annual Swim/Bike/Run another huge success for RCCS

April 25, 2017

With 110 participants, Richland County Children Services concluded another successful 24-hour Swim/Bike/Run last weekend at the Mansfield YMCA.

Agency employees, representatives from partner agencies and members of the public covered 477 miles during the event, which began Friday at 4 p.m. and concluded Saturday at 4 p.m. There was at least one person walking, running, swimming or biking during the entire period.

The Richland Source and WMFD-TV both provided local media coverage of the event, staged each year during National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April to highlight the fact the agency is open to take calls about suspected child abuse/neglect 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"We can't thank folks enough for their support during the event," said Carl Hunnell, the agency's public information and outreach supervisor.

"Special thanks to more than 30 agency employees and their family members, representatives from the Richland County Prosecutor's Office, Richland Public Health and the public for their willingness to spend time with us during the event," Hunnell said.
