Participants sought for annual "5k Run/Walk for the Kids" on Oct. 30

October 19, 2010

How about a brisk fall run/walk to benefit children?

That's the idea behind the annual "5K Run/Walk for the Kids" on Saturday, Oct. 30, sponsored by Richland County Children Services Staff Enrichment.

This year's event starts at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Edgewood and Crescent Roads in Woodland and proceeds 3.1 miles on scenic roads in the Woodland neighborhood. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the nearby Richland County Children Services pavilion at 731 Scholl Road.

Walkers, runners and the entire community are invited to attend and/or participate in this great event that supports the agency's efforts to aid abused and neglected children throughout Richland County.

If you register in advance, the cost is only $10. The first 100 runners and walkers registered will receive a free t-shirt. Race day registration fee is $15.

We will again have seven age groups for the event: 12&under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-plus. Awards will go to the top three men and women finishers in each age group and to the top three men and women overall.
